In March of 2021, Mallard Medical (a subsidiary of AB Medical Technologies, Inc.) was acquired by three local medical device manufacturing entrepreneurs. Rick Morgan, Robert Cronic, and I (Joshua Millage) have been long-time friends of the previous owners and were honored that they were contacted to purchase the business and lead it into the future.
Our vision is to grow Mallard Medical’s worldwide reach and increase its product offerings. We are committed to retaining the world-class quality and service that our customers have come to know from Mallard Medical. We also desire to innovate with our customers to create new products that serve the needs of veterinary anesthesia technicians around the globe.
I am pleased to report that Bob Pearson and Ken Brown have agreed to advise us in this next chapter of growth, and Bob has been kind enough to write an article for this newsletter. Special thanks to both of them for their knowledge and guidance.
Our Vision for 2022 and Beyond
We started the year by growing our team and hiring a new Director of Operations, Kris Juliana to help build out the Mallard team. We also refreshed our brand and created a new logo that honors the original brand imagery and updates it into a modern layout and color palette.
In 2022, we have experienced unprecedented challenges with our supply chain, which has affected our ability to acquire critical parts and has expanded our order lead times. I am pleased to report that we enacted a robust strategy to integrate the manufacturing of key components using our own medical grade machine shop and state-of-the-art 3D printing. These strategic moves have helped us reduce lead time and ensure our customers that critical maintenance and repair parts will be available when needed.
We are also working on a new website with a support portal that allows our customers to view helpful setup, service, and maintenance videos and articles. This portal will also enable our customers to purchase repair parts quickly and easily, as an option to contacting one of our team members.
New Products for 2022
Our new owners have over 30 years of medical device design and manufacturing experience. Our focus in our sister company, VisionCare Devices, has been the Ophthalmic market. While we will be supporting our current product line long into the future, we will also be introducing new veterinary Ophthalmic products under the Mallard brand in 2022.
